L’hotel Saturnia & International inaugura una nuova serie di appuntamenti per il 2018 con il primo incontro 'Come cambiano i mestieri – dallo spezier al farmacista' che si terra’ Giovedi' 15 Febbraio alle ore 18.00. La società cambia, cambiano le città, e con esse la nostra vita. Gli antichi mestieri si evolvono perdendo le loro radici. Ma non sempre è così: talvolta il progresso sa guardare avanti senza spezzare il filo, riconduce a saperi e tecniche che vengono da lontano. La farmacologia è uno dei campi dove l’evoluzione scientifica è più rapida ed è più difficile salvaguardare, senza nostalgie, il legame con il passato. Di questo, del suo lavoro di oggi e dell’antica tradizione degli “spezieri” veneziani parlerà, conversando con il giornalista Leopoldo Pietragnoli, il dottor Giovanni Burati, farmacista all'antica Farmacia erboristica “Alla colonna e mezza” dove, dal Sedicesimo secolo, si producono e vendono, in Campo San Polo a Venezia, preparati medicinali ed erboristici.

On Thursday 15 February at 6.00 p.m. the Saturnia & International inaugurates a new series of appointments for 2018 with the first meeting 'How crafts change – from the apothecary to the pharmacist'.
Society and cities change and with them our lives. The ancient trades evolve and lose their roots. But this is not always so. Sometimes progress can look ahead without breaking the thread, leading back to knowledge and techniques that come from afar. Pharmacology is one of the fields where scientific evolution is faster and it is more difficult to preserve without nostalgia the link with the past. Doctor Giovanni Burati will talk about the Venetian apothecaries ancient tradition and his work. He works as pharmacist at the ancient herbal medicine pharmacy "Alla colonna e mezzo", where medicines and herbal preparations have been produced and sold at Campo San Polo (Venice) since the 16th century. The meeting will be coordinated by Leopoldo Pietragnoli, journalist and scholar of the history of Venice.
